Adult Learning

Last year, more than 3,500 people participated in one of the Partnership’s many adult Jewish learning opportunities.

The Partnership strives to enhance and expand adult Jewish learning by working with our partner agencies to increase the quality and impact of adult education offerings; creating vibrant new curricula that will engage adults of all ages and levels of affiliation; and identifying talented educators to mentor and offer critical professional development.

  • Improving the quality and accessibility of adult Jewish learning by offering more programs in more locations with our partner agencies. We also offer the convenience of Jewish learning on your computer through thought leadership pieces on the Partnership website, and links to compelling content tied to seasonal holidays and events. The Partnership E-Concierge, working with the JConnect Portal, offers targeted 21st century marketing of a wide range of adult learning opportunities.

  • Developing and strengthening educators in the field with training workshops and regular networking opportunities.

  • Offering a range of courses and classes spanning from one-day immersive, community-wide learning opportunities like ROUTES to two year comprehensive study programs like the Florence Melton School of Adult Jewish Learning out of the Hebrew University. We are now creating a growing number of short courses on topics specifically requested by local adults, such as God- An Ongoing Conversation, Transitions, Israel: Turning Points in History, and Jewish Philosophy. This spectrum of opportunity helps adults grow their skills and conceptual knowledge on a continuum across the life-span.
  • Addressing diverse learning needs and other accommodations.

For more information about adult Jewish learning opportunities in the Greater Washington area, contact Michele Duchin, at mduchin@pjll.org or 240-283-6200. Need accommodations to participate?  Contact Sara Milner at smilner@pjll.org.
