B'nai Tzedek describes it Chaverim Summer Program: This summer we will have lots of exciting adventures and entertainment for the children. The theme for the summer is Under the Sea, and each week the children will learn about a new sea creature. Once we set sail we will visit our sea friends: octopi, dolphins, whales, sea lions, starfish, sea turtles, sea horses, hermit crabs. Each week we’ll learn about a new sea friend, explore new places, and enjoy special events such as: having our own sea friend’s party, building a Chaverim coral reef, having fish friend’s races, cooking a “sea food” snack, and going on a turtle hunt in the creek. We will learn about how to care for ocean habitats and the health and safe keeping of our own Chesapeake watershed. We will have special entertainment with live creatures that will teach themes of conservation and caring for the oceans. The children will work on collaborative projects that are in keeping with the skills that they will be refining during the school year.
As in years past we will have water tables and sprinkler time, weekly creek walks, and hikes to the school next door. There will be daily art experience projects related to the weekly under sea friends as well as races, picnics, and games. We will continue to care for our school garden. We will water the plants and weed, harvest the yummy veggies and cook up some healthy treats.
Every Friday, we will celebrate Shabbat with the Cantor and all of our friends
