What does the Partnership do?
The Partnership for Jewish Life and Learning is a non-profit, communal agency that takes an innovative approach to Jewish learning. We look beyond books and classrooms, and deliver high quality programs and ideas that integrate Judaism into daily life, making Jewish learning joyful at all ages. By providing research that identifies key challenges and creative solutions; offering dynamic programs through local partners or our own staff; advancing local educators’ professional development; and collaborating with other community organizations, our staff of nationally recognized educators provides the vision, leadership and resources for real change in the Washington Metro area and beyond.
Why are you called the Partnership?
We are called the Partnership to emphasize how we work together to strengthen our community: lay leaders, volunteers and professionals are critical to our mission, and we consider them our partners. In addition, we partner with our community’s agencies (i.e., JCC’s, congregations) to provide educational content, consultation services, resources and professional development opportunities and networks.
How are your programs different from your partners' programs?
Our partners’ programs generally service their own organizations or communities. Our programs are broader reaching and work in several ways:
- we work with our partners in creating programs
- we provide unique educational services
- we provide programming for populations that are not currently serviced
- we provide professional development opportunities to benefit agencies and congregations across the Greater Washington area
Who does the Partnership serve?
We serve members of the greater community both professionally and personally.
On a professional level, the Partnership provides:
- resources, workshops, conferences and networks for congregational educators, youth and teen educators, early childhood educators, community, family and adult educators.
On a community level, we provide:
- services for all our community agencies, philanthropy education for teens and adults and a myriad of adult education opportunities through our community agencies.
What is your vision for the community?
The Partnership’s mission is to reinvent the system of Jewish education, and ultimately, transform the community. We are a catalyst for innovation and transformation in Jewish educational and identity building experiences for people of all ages throughout the Greater Washington community. We take a strategic and forward-thinking approach to Jewish education that is crucial for real change.
How are you funded?
We are funded through the generosity of the Jewish Federation of Greater Washington and through private donations.
