What is Melton?

The Florence Melton School of Adult Jewish Learning is a comprehensive, pluralistic program of adult Jewish learning offered throughout the world. Developed at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, the Melton curriculum offers adults a well-rounded, in-depth study of Judaism in a user-friendly format. Explore Jewish texts from Biblical through contemporary sources in an intellectually stimulating, non-denominational environment.

Rhythms and Purposes of Jewish Living

Rhythms of Jewish Living:  What ideas, beliefs, and practices are part of your Judaism? This course examines a wide variety of Jewish sources that will lead to new discoveries, questions and the deeper meanings underlying Jewish holidays, lifecycle observances, and Jewish practice.

Purposes of Jewish Living:  What are the big questions of life and how have Jewish thinkers addressed these questions throughout the ages? This course explores sources both ancient and modern in pursuit of answers to many of the major issues of Jewish thought and theology.For further information, please contact learnwithus@pjll.org or 240-283-6234. ****It is recommended – but not required – that entering students begin their studies with the Rhythms and Purposes units.
